In Order To See

I love both of these images equally and for opposite reasons.

The first is characterized by light, effervescence and flight. The second is anchored in shadows and darkness.

Oh, Hey June

The bird and the bunnies were highlights from Wednesday's preschool field trip to the NYU Glass Garden. It was our end of year trip, which means I'm about to head into my last weekend before the final week of school. Which also means it's June.

I've got lots to accomplish in the next few days, including drafting my farewell letter (sad) and creating photo memory discs for the kiddos (happy).

Hope you have a terrific weekend.

Highway 1

A few California stragglers in the form of the most breath-taking stretch of road I've ever encountered in my life. It's famous for a reason.

Also, horses:

Everything is relative, right?

New at Neest

(Pompon, tea kettle; leather phone case, coffee mill).

It's been nearly a year since I first discovered Neest and I still think it's the epitome of perfection.

Headed to the Cape + Weekend Blinks

The perfect bouquet? (spotted on Heart of Light)

So true. Cannot believe another school year is just a few weeks away

Kate Moss's romantic English wedding = jawdropping. (photos by Mario Testino for Vogue)

I'm currently stalking a pair of pompom curtains that look exactly like this. That loose wildflower arrangement is also pretty bangin' (photo by Amy Merrick)

This house is so stylish and fresh. (See more on Trendland, discovered via Automatism)

Salted mudslide cookies. Why are you still sitting here reading this?

Thank goodness I won't be searching too laboriously for a 2012 calendar.  Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. made the perfect one and it will be hanging on my wall

The online world seemed quiet this week. I'm guessing people are off their computers and outside enjoying these last few weeks of the season. At least I hope so. We're headed to my family's cottage in Cape Cod for the weekend. I can't believe it's the only visit we were able to swing this summer, but I'll take what I can get. And what I can get better include a lobster roll (the buttery kind, because mayo and I do not get along).

Hope it's beautiful where you are.

P.S. A few lovely surprises this week: Erin shared the incredibly thoughtful parcel she sent me a while back and Alli posted about a care package + painting I recently sent her. Man, do I love blogging and the friendships it has afforded me.

Scenes From the Farm

Unless you wanted to see pictures of me in sweats and no makeup doing things like eating, sleeping, grocery shopping and researching wedding venues, I have nothing to show you from this weekend.  It was exactly the sort of slow weekend that's necessary every so often and I am grateful to have indulged it.

Instead, I thought I'd share some photos from a day trip to Stone Barns Farm in Pocantico Hills, NY  last week. Brandi and I met up for the first time for a little rendezvous (y'all know Brandi, right? She's a doll). Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture is a non-profit, four-season farm and educational center spanning eighty acres. I've been itching to visit for a while and am so glad that we decided to spend a sunny summer afternoon there.

Tiho and I will probably visit again soon because all I did when I returned home was rave about the delicious food and idyllic scenery. It was amazing to be surrounded on all sides by honest-to-goodness nature.

Excited to visit the Chance Co. temporary pop up shop in Soho (211 Elizabeth Street, NYC, Thurs-Sun, 12-7pm for the months of May & June)

So glad to have recently discovered Mint Peach, a lovely and inspiring blog about modern simple living. (How amazing is that art above the bed?)

Saveur posted an article all about strawberry recipes. I'm in heaven over here.

Happy Weekend, lovely ones! Thank you for taking the time to read my banana this week: I love having you.We are off to Ithaca for the graduation festivities of my darling sister. I am very excited to celebrate her awesomeness.

Until next time, a joyous weekend to you.

Universality

I can't stop thinking about the universality of love. All living beings experience it, which just blows my mind.
