I've talked about Cape Cod a lot here, but I don't know if I've ever really
talked about it. In my heart of hearts, it is home. It is family and bare feet and gull song and childhood. It is the place I am from and the place where pieces of me will remain forever.
This is nothing more than a tiny glimpse into my magical world there.
It is polka-dotted curtains in itty-bitty bedrooms.
It is old wooden sheds and memories of mischief made.
It is a road so familiar, I could walk it safely on the blackest night.
It is a love so big it makes you all silly and squishy and smiley.
It is the best damn clam chowder (don't let anyone tell you otherwise) and sometimes chickens, too.
It is swinging and spinning and laughing until you cry...
...and end up falling into the soft dew of the earth below.
It is peace and green and everything in between.
It is charm etched onto building facades and street signs.
It is gray weathered shingles and fence posts.
It is right there at the center of my heart.
It is a road so familiar, I could walk it safely on the blackest night.
Beautiful sentiments Kayla...and I feel exactly the same about my childhood summers spent on Lake Winni in NH. I treasure every memory, as it seems you do for Cape Cod. We are lucky to have these places in our hearts. xo

DeleteI love Cape Cod too! Where did you stay? My family owns the Nauset Lighthouse Keeper's House so I spend my time in Eastham and Wellfleet. Lovely pictures, you made me miss it!
ReplyDeleteMy family owns a home in Brewster, right off route 6A, and I grew up in Sandwich! I love Wellfleet--especially the drive in movie theater. :)
