Things I Like, V. 6 (Bicycle Edition)

After much hemming and hawing over finances, brands and styles, I finally plunked down a fistful of cash at a neighborhood shop and bought myself a shiny new bicycle! She is the most perfect shade of lipstick-red.

I can't wait to put her to good use soon, but before I can do that, I'm in need of some worthy (and necessary) accessories. First, a roomy basket for holding snacks, flowers and the like. Second, a cool helmet to protect my brain. (Tiho raised his eyebrows at this polka dot number, so to appease him, I'm also considering a style in a more subtle shade of cream). Third, a pretty bell to alert fellow bikers of my whereabouts: it trills the perfect "ding-a-ling!" ring. And fourth, a comfy (and stylin') camera strap. If I'm going to be spending the majority of my time cruising, I want to ensure that my neck is able to support the weight of my camera's constant presence.

Clockwise from top left (as of now, the bike is the only item purchased; still considering the others):

1). Biria CitiBike; 2). Border Stripe Canvas Camera Strap; 3). Crane Suzu Brass Bell; 4). Classic Nantucket Handlebar Basket; 5). Nutcase "Dots" Helmet

I also like this helmet and this thinner leather camera strap. Thoughts?

  2. I love the green multi camera strap with the plain cream helmet. The cut-outs on the helmet are fantastic!

By the way, I visited the drugstore after reading your beauty post the other day and picked up the Aveeno and Dove products you recommended. LOVE their gentle scents and the feeling of my skin afterward...

  4. Cute choices! As a fellow (practical) biker, I'd recommend splurging on a comfortable seat...I'm still teaching my behind that good things come with pain! :)

  7. Lipstick red?! How PERFECT!! John bought me a bell and a basket for my beach cruiser, but it's so tough to ride in SF that we've never bothered to attach them!
