High Five!

1). This springy bouquet. Because when the freezing temperatures outside force you to remain inside, a cheery boost from nature is a must.

2). These stuffed friends. Because I never realized how happy it would make me to watch her clutch their little arms.

3). This mirror selfie. Because brushed hair + lipstick + a real outfit = necessary documentation.

4). This chubster. Because she (and I) believe the message behind her is very important.

5). These piles. Because I've never enjoyed folding laundry until now. (The company doesn't hurt either).

High five to these five, and, happy weekend to you!

+ A few links...

I'm a fan of eloping.
I'm really liking this site for home decor inspiration.
Yay for dads!
Planning to try this chocolate cake recipe over the weekend.
I'm obsessed with kitchen renovations and holy wow, this one is incredible.
What a super cute way to document a child's growth over time.
Love this adorable blanket/playmat.
And last, life with kids is messy.

15 May 2015

High Five!

1). This guy. Because I don't know how I would have survived the past few months without him. He'll be such a wonderful father.

2). (More) greenery. Because I'm a fan of bringing nature indoors whenever possible.

3). This wooden dresser. Because we finally upgraded from good ole Ikea and I feel like a real grown-up.

4). Stroller navigating. Because even though we won't be purchasing one for at least a few more months, it's fun to practice on your friend's baby.

5). This envelope. Because new technology/early blood tests determine the sex of your baby at only 12 weeks. Any guesses?!

High five to these five, and happy weekend to you!

25 April 2014

High Five!

1). This  sun-dappled forsythia. Because hello.

2). Fitting into the crawl space on the local playground. Because sometimes you need to be five.

3). Homemade chocolate chip banana bread fresh out of the oven. Because, obviously.

4). This grocery store bouquet. Because I'm really feeling purple lately.

5). This mural on the upper west side. Because all that color made me smile.

High five to these five. And, happy weekend to you!

22 March 2014

High Five!

1). My mama's pretty palette. She's working on a painting for me, and I loved sneaking a peek while visiting her on the Cape this week.

2). My new spring jacket. More importantly, the fact that it's actually warm enough to wear it!

3). Massachusetts charm. I could photograph architecture in New England all day, every day.

4). This friendly (and regal) pup. We passed her while seeking a spot for lunch in a quaint South Shore town on Thursday.

5). This delicious-smelling bouquet. Sweet peas have my heart.

High five to these five. And, happy weekend to you. (And spring break to me, yeehaw!).

21 February 2014

High Five!

1). These planes. Because I saw them on my visit to the Smithsonian National Air & Space museum in Washington DC over the long weekend and was very impressed.

2). This little goober and her heart-patch sleeves. Because she's the best, and I have so many more photos to share of her delightfulness.

3). These pastel houses. Because who knew capitol hill was so quaint?.

4). This rocking chair. Because it looked so pretty with all of that afternoon light pouring in.

5). This duck face. Because clearly, selfies are meant to be silly.

High five to these five. And, happy weekend to you!

23 January 2014

High Five!

1). A cinnamon bun. Because I devoured it mid-afternoon, at home, during the work week. Praise snow days!

2). This new throw pillow. Because it's slipcovered in my favorite shade of yellow and is the perfect size for snuggling.

3). The city on a blustery, cold afternoon. Because it's all about how you see things.

4). These Trader Joe's tulips. Because they cost less than $2 and are now sitting bright & pretty on my desk.

5). This breakfast. Because ever since discovering that french vanilla yogurt tastes very different than regular vanilla yogurt, I can't get enough.

High five to these five. And, happy Thursday to you!

P.S. Five more items of note:

A handful of questions to ask yourself before posting to social media.

This photographer (and photo series) is incredible. And she's only been shooting for a year and a half.

For the love of money. A thought-provoking op-ed in last weekend's Sunday Times.

Speaking of money: let's talk about retirement.

My sister, Emma, maintains a tumblr of her writing. She wrote this piece about sisterhood last fall and it still makes me cry every time I read it.

24 May 2013

High Five!

1). This flag-turned-art hanging above the toilet. I don't know about you, but seeing a peace dove every time I pee brings odd satisfaction.

2). While we're on the subject of bathrooms, I found it necessary to photograph this paint-splattered doorknob leading into ours.

3). Messy unkempt hair worn loose still feels infinitely better than messy unkept hair worn up.

4). My mom regularly sends me emails containing photos from her explorations with her new camera. I love this one she snapped in Cape Cod (minimally processed by me).

5). This waterfront fence in Brooklyn Bridge park is one of my favorite spots in the city.

High five to these five. And happy (long) weekend to you. We're off to Iowa to attend the wedding of Tiho's best friend from college. He and his fiancée graduate from medical school today and then will be married on Sunday. Tiho has groomsman duties while I just plan on dancing my face off. And lounging around in my hotel robe. Fluffy hotel robes rank right up there in my very favorite things.

21 September 2012

High Five!

1). Sunnies. They're making me nostalgic for our first wedding anniversary (next week) and do a mighty fine job of brightening up the living room.

2). Cute blue convertible bugs. Apparently, I've got a bad case of car brain.

3). My bottle collection. Now that the air conditioner units have been removed & stored for the season, I'm enjoying the usefulness of the windowsill again.

4). Cooking with T after an exhausting workday. Even though the only thing I felt like doing was collapsing on the couch, we chopped & sautéed side by side, resulting in a delicious (and nutritious) dinner .

5). Hot pink slippers & a new graphic rug for the entryway. Sometimes, (usually) it's the tiny things that yield the biggest impact.

High five to these five. And, happy weekend to you!

20 April 2012

High Five!

1). Blowing dandelions & makin' wishes. I'm still a believer.

2). Preschoolers with paintbrushes and vases of spring flowers.

3). The upper west side early on a weekday morning.

4). Multi-colored eggs to celebrate the Bulgarian/Eastern Orthodox Easter. Tiho taught me his secret dyeing technique and this was the result. (I was proud).

5). Quick loose curls that stay put all day. Bonus? No blow-dryer required.

High five to these five. And, happy weekend to you.

30 March 2012

High Five!

1). Our back patio. Not sure why there's a sideways door behind a garden chair, but hey! The colors sure are pretty.

2). Peachy coral ranunculus. I think I'm now officially a crazy ranunculus lady.

3). The sock bun. Makes leaving the house without showering so much more stylin' (even if it does take me five attempts to get it right. every time. yup.)

4). Magnolia petals. Can't believe they're almost gone already.

5). A simple dinner for two (fresh bread, orzo salad) and flowers that match the fruit bowl.

High five to these five. And, happy weekend to you.
