Are you familiar with the work of Paule Marrot (1902-1987)? A french engraver, painter, teacher and textile artist in the early to mid 20th century, Marrot is often associated with the art deco movement and best known for her vibrant and spirited flower designs (mostly on fabric, but also on furniture, canvas, wallpaper, accessories and housewares). According to her biography, "in the world of interior decoration, Marrot's fresh, colorful, spontaneous designs have always been synonymous with a wonderful sense of joie de vivre."

I found this bit from the bio particularly joyous: "You paint with your heart the flowers of the fields, love, youth, the seasons, everything that is wonderful in life," said Andre Arbus to Paule Marrot when the designer was awarded the Legion d'Honneur. All her designs had charming stories to tell and revealed her love of nature, art, travel, birds, gardens, animals and people.
