The World Is A Book

"Why do you go away?
So that you can come back.
So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors.
And the people there see you differently, too.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving."
-Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

It has been said that the world is a book. This book is superbly crafted, filled with plot twists, adventure, conflict, romance and billions of multi-dimensional characters. Every new place is a new chapter (or perhaps a new page, if you're one of those lucky souls who travels to new places regularly).

Imagine if you lived your whole life only having read a handful of chapters from the book. On the contrary, imagine if you've read ten, twenty, fifty, one thousand. With each, you interact with new characters, taste new flavors, experience new emotions, witness new ideologies.

Of course it's impossible to read every chapter in a single lifetime, but shouldn't we aspire to devour as many as possible?

Traveling is a privilege for most. It will certainly always be a privilege for me, but it will also always be a priority.

Here's to the next chapter.

P.S. I just returned from a two-week trip to Europe (Iceland, England, France, Spain) and am looking forward to sharing more of my adventures--both photos and stories--in this space soon.

  2. “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”...I truly subscribe to that belief. I can't wait to see more photos from your trip - what a whirlwind adventure!

    1. Susan, it really was, although at the same time, it felt long and rejuvenating. We were mostly settled in France + Spain (Iceland was just one day and London, three).
