Later that same night, we drove 30 miles to pick up a new-to-us coffee table (not pictured). I'm not supposed to be looking for furniture until we know for sure where we're moving, but the never-ending coffee table search is a running joke in our home. So, when I happened to stumble upon a classic wooden beauty for only $15 (say what!), I couldn't resist. Someone please tell me how in the world I ever fathomed a $500 budget as reasonable for a new table from Pottery Barn/Crate & Barrel/West Elm? That's just plain dumb when you have the new york metro-area craigslist at your disposal.
Plus, now I can utilize the "bonus" cash for art. Or more flowers, naturally.
(Or, my 401k, according to my financially-responsible husband).
$475 in the 401k–$10 for more flowers!
ReplyDeletegirl, I like you.
Deletefresh flowers are necessity! always. those roses are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteyour post remind me of this saying: "When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and lily with the other"
-Chinese proverb
Love that proverb.
Deletei often spend my last dollars on coffee and flowers. well done.
ReplyDeleteyou got it, sistah.
DeleteThat is totally my kind of thrifty budget for a coffee table. Good job on the $15 find. :-)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your photography never fails to inspire me.

thank you, elizabeth! and yes, I could hardly believe my luck. I never have luck on craigslist, so I'm hoping this is a good omen for more to come.
DeleteCheers for craigslist furniture. Our couch is the solitary piece of furniture we own that *wasn't* found on craigslist. Ok, and our mattress...but still!
ReplyDeletecraigslist is so addicting, especially now that I'm hyper-scrolling it every night.
Deletethe coffee table sounds like a great find, the roses are gorgeous & I agree at least a little of the money should go towards flowers :)
