Café Lalo
It's been fascinating to reflect on my own photographic style development these past couple of years. When someone asks me what subject matter I most enjoy photographing, my answer is almost always the same: light and emotion. It might not be the answer they were expecting, but it's honest, and indicative of my inspiration in every respect.
Café Lalo, on west 83rd street, has some damn fine window light, my friends. And damn good cheesecake, in case you were wondering.

gorgeous, love the colours - I'm always chasing the light too :)
ReplyDeleteLove these shots and the style behind them! Looks like a great place to stop and sit a while.
ReplyDeleteYou do capture light very beautifully in your shots. I especially like how the blurred background in these shots looks like diffused light from fairy lights - so festive! :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos make me feel so warm and comfortable–I've loved watching your work evolve!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great answer to you photography question and I totally feel the same way. You are doing great! Love the photos. What a great cafe!

ReplyDeleteCafe Lalo! Imagine my joy to discover it my first evening in NYC, just 3 blocks from my hotel!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are marvellous, Kayla. You have such an eye for light and emotion, and you capture both beautifully.
I would love to meet up with you at Cafe Lalo and spend an afternoon eating cheesecake and sipping lattes. Next time I'm in your city, yes?
