Scenes From The Weekend

If you've been reading my blog for any length of time you've probably caught wind of my mug problem. Tiho has gone so far as to instate a ban: If I come home with a new one, I'm required to get rid of another. He's justified in his thinking, as we have an entire (large) kitchen cabinet devoted to their storage. I don't know what it is, but put me in the housewares section of any store and one will surely sneak its way into my basket. In my defense, I'm good about ensuring their regular use: I'm both a coffee and tea addict, so my collection never turns dusty.

We spent most of Saturday scrubbing our house and subsequently kicking off the annual spring purge. Unsurprisingly, not a single mug made its way into the donate/trash pile. I just can't bring myself to do it yet.

We also had some friends over for dinner, walked into town for coffee & bagels on Sunday, and devoured crepes with delicious homemade orange honey syrup thanks to this recipe.

I also began packing for San Francisco! I leave this coming weekend to stay with a dear friend who moved there for graduate school last summer: I've only ever visited southern California, so I'm super psyched to explore. Any must sees while I'm in town?  I have a small list but will gladly welcome any suggestions. Lots to do between now and then though, so with that, I'm off to greet this busy week.

  5. San Francisco? Definitely (listen to your foodie friend) Tartine, the Ferry Building (try a Pepples Donut), Miette in Hayes Valley (there's a Miette in the Ferry Building too but go to the one in Hayes Valley)...and get to Gather in Berkeley. MUST. Go. To. Gather.

As for your mug addiction, it could be completely justified if you attach a little cafe onto that flower shop. Seriously. I'll bake the goodies and you can be in charge of mugs and flowers and charming people.

  7. Another MA here (mugaholic anonymous) - to my great relief, my kitchenette is so petite that I have to get rid of old mugs when buying new ones:-)

  8. I am so excited for you to visit my favorite Californian city! Admittedly I am a bit out of the loop after being away for so long, and don't know all the hottest spots anymore, but I love Hayes valley and the mission. if you are near 16th street, stop in Belljar. I think you would love it- my best friend manages it.

  11. I never knew about your coffee cup addiction. I love that husband has put restrictions on how many you can have. :) I think Chad's gonna have to start doing that for our Feistaware -- I can't help myself though; when I spot something in the thrift store it's gotta come home with me. I'm sure that's how it is for you too. :)
