Scenes From The Weekend

My best and truest writing happens in my head and often in the shower when there is no paper or pen to capture it. I freeze mid-shampoo--hands paused in a tangle of hair--mentally willing myself to retain that sole perfect sentence or idea for just a fraction of a second longer.

Usually, I lose it.

I felt that familiar urgency when I sat down to write this post. My heart and my brain were bursting with inspiration and fullness after a weekend spent with two beloved friends; women I've known now for ten years; women whose friendship affects me on a deeply spiritual level.

I thought about pushing through; forcing myself to find and deliver words satisfactory enough to provide  a peek into the emotions and conversations experienced this weekend.

I thought about it, and decided to let it rest. Sometimes, we need to let the best and most sacred things just be.

  2. What a beautiful message. I feel this way sometimes too. You're right. It's okay to not stress about writing a just post about an amazing experience and, rather, let the experience just be. Have a great week, Kayla!

  7. I can completely relate to being struck by inspiration when you're no where near a pen. I usually get swamped by ideas right before I fall asleep and I can never remember them in the morning!
