Scenes From The Weekend (Instagram Edition)

Hand-squeezed fresh grapefruit & clementine juice. Saturday morning dancing to the dizzyingly addictive Michael BublĂ©, Harry Connick Jr. & Matt White intertwined with conversations about goals and plans, life and dreams.

All my favorite groceries in the fridge, a surprise discovery of red & white cloth napkins marked down to .97 each at West Elm, and bottles in every room housing the first peek at Spring's blooms. Warm rainbow sun on my face and a cheerful painting from a budding three-year-old artist.

Mignon Kitchen delivery and a prompt devouring of the contents. Toast made fun with a heart cookie cutter and a slathering of apricot preserves. Slow, leisurely breakfasts that melt into late afternoon lunches.

An unscheduled and entirely relaxing weekend made me cognizant of how gratifying that feels. January was an interesting month for a few reasons and I felt as if I was in a hard-to-shake fog for much of it. I think it's lifting now, and I can't describe how happy that makes me. I wish that for you, too.

  2. Another gorgeous weekend from you. I'm crushing on that toast and jam right now -- one week into my vegan, gluten-free diet and I am seriously missing bread. Toast is one of my comfort foods. And I love how bright and cheerful your photos are! They almost made me forget it's January.

  10. Oh, I very much feel you on that January fog. Ish! But I'm happy to hear that it is lifting for you...I'm pretty sure heart-shaped toast is to thank. Too, too cute.

(And really, 97 cent napkins from West Elm? Color. Me. Jealous.)

    As always, love your Instagrams!

  11. Your face is so cute in that pic, Kayla! I love the new company that Rachel created -- am trying not to go over there too much otherwise I would be tempt to spend way too much of my paycheck.

It's almost February! We can all cheer up a little on that one, right? :)

  12. I still feel like I'm stuck in that January fog. Everything is making me feel sad/hopeless/overwhelmed. I'm trying to shake it with lots of exercise outside, and great big green salads. Some days it works for a while...

I'll just keep carrying on, and looking forward to the spring. Your photos are so sunny, they make me feel like it's a little bit closer.
