Scenes From The Weekend
We mostly lazed about this weekend. A weird mood struck on Friday night resulting in a long, hard cry followed by a long, hard sleep. But damn, it felt good. On Saturday we woke with only an hour left of the morning and ventured to our favorite brunch haunt for a little something hot and a little something sweet. Hit the spot.
Closets were organized, groceries purchased, Mad Men season 1 concluded (I know, where have we been?). As the sunlight tapered off, we fixed a bread & cheese plate and ate it from a tray in bed. Man, I love Saturdays.
On Sunday morning, we walked the long way to the farmer's market. I felt nostalgic for the season even though it's still in full swing. Only two more weeks until Halloween, less than six until Thanksgiving, ten until Christmas. I feel like I've been living for my weekends lately, which worries me. The work week is always so busy and I'm struggling to find balance. One day at a time.
How are things in your neck of the woods? I'm aiming for a solid seven hours of sleep each night. A small but worthy victory if successful.

A good cry can really help sometimes... I hope it did for you. As for living for the weekends? 100% with you, and need to get more sleep in the week nights. Let's see if we can both keep to it!
ReplyDeleteSorry you were feeling down?...but a good cry can be the best remedy sometimes. I'm also already feeling like the season is escaping me...going too fast!
ReplyDeleteYou know what? Tears are never a bad thing. It sounds like you got just what you needed this weekend after that big cry : sleep + relaxation + long walk + sweet treats. {Speaking of, I have to direct you over to my latest post because there is a photo of a macaron that I'm pretty sure will make you swoon... which is perhaps a way to help you get through a Monday, non?} XOXO
ReplyDeletehave you read hyperbole and a half's "sneaky hate spiral"?? google it. you will die/pee your pants laughing.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the thought in Gretchen Rubin's book "The days are long but the years are short". For some reason I've been thinking more and more about it when my work day drags and I crave for the few short hours at home. I look back at the summer and wonder "where did it go??"
ReplyDeleteOur lives are all broken down to weekends, birthday, holidays, anniversaries and other special occasions that we look forward to and we try to speed through the "fluff" or hectic time in between. It's art to truly enjoy every day and some days I'm more "artistic" than others. It's all good, as long you keep this thought in your mind.
I guess it's the time of the year that makes us all nostalgic. You're doing just fine:-)
a good long cry? fuck yeah! that's so good for you. i had one of those this weekend too. it was amazing. cute boots!! i can't wait till the weather is cold enough to wear mine. only two weeks till halloween?! wow, this year is almost over. ack! [deep breaths] you're right, only one day at a time.
ReplyDeleteI definitely find myself living for the weekends these days-work is just so damn busy it's sometimes the only opportunity to wash my hair, much less read a book or enjoy the day. Oye. We will find balance sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteThere's always Christmas break!
I'm impressed. Also, it should be said that I eat 2-3 bw cookies per week. No shame.
ReplyDeleteI need a regular sleep schedule again. I think I'm going to force myself up early tomorrow. Like WAY early. Maybe I'll accomplish a whole lot while I'm at it. I just can't help feeling like I have so much to do and so little time before I start the new job.
ReplyDeleteI understand your desire to only live for the weekends. I think that's only natural. Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing little peeks into your weekends... by the way, I just saw your wedding photos on alice's blog -- wowza! so pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteAww glad you had a good sleep after the cry. That does sound like such a nice leisurely weekend though. My favorite! I think we have to soak them up at this stage in life. : )
ReplyDeleteP.S. I totally know what you mean for living for the weekends. I don't like it and it makes time go so much faster. You're right, one day at a time.
ReplyDeleteyour chunky veggies/salad looks really good!! great weekend photos :)
