Fleeting Beauty

I'm not sure what it is about lamp posts, city buildings and blossoming trees, but I'm unable to walk half a block without stopping to take a photo. While I'll almost always choose the SLR over the iPhone, I love the soft, not-quite-in-focus quality of these. I'm beginning to think it's time to venture into film...

I wish the trees looked like this forever. On the other hand, there's something to be said about the beauty in their brevity.

(all photos my own via the iPhone 4)

  1. I like how you wrote it might be time to venture into film as if it were something new. I still feel like I just stopped using film yesterday. I don't quite remember my photos turning out this artsy when I took photos either, ha! Our white tree (like the first one you've posted) is already green and has lost all of its blossoms. I do love seeing all the yellow in fields, though! As always, wonderful post, Kayla!

  3. I miss taking photos with film. In high school, I used to roll my own spools and print my own photographs. It was so much fun experimenting with images in that darkroom.
And these trees are lovely, but I'm glad they don't stay like this. If they did, we wouldn't have that gorgeous green umbrella of shade in the summer.

  4. That picture of the magnolia tree and the lamp post is stunning.

I was lamenting that most of the cherry blossoms have blown off our trees last night, but then my husband reminded me of how lovely and cool the front yard is in the summer time, with its canopy of green...

  12. Beautiful pictures! Have you ever been to the museum of gaslamps in Berlin? It's in a huge park, showing more than 80 lamps from all over the world. (you can also find in on flickr if you search for "gas lamp walk tiergarten")
Anyway, thanks for sharing! I like your blog very much.
